Giving lei symbolizes love, friendship and aloha, while creating lei connects us to Hawaii’s natural splendor and our own creative expression.
In this class, we will draw inspiration from our environment to create lei ‘ai, neck lei, with a needle and string. The art of lei begins in gathering the materials, and you will learn about the locally foraged flowers, seeds and leaves we’ll use to craft our lei. You are also encouraged to bring in materials from your own backyard, and to seek inspiration in unexpected plants! We will combine common and exotic materials to add color, texture and shape to your lei that will make it a unique piece of art.
Become a floral creative in this modern lei making class to make a lei for you and your loved ones.
