Join us for an immersive three-hour workshop where you’ll master the art of crafting a traditional lei po’o (head lei) using local foliage and vibrant flowers. In this hands-on session, you’ll delve into the intricacies of flower and raffia preparation, learn the elegant wili (twist) style of lei-making, and explore pattern organization to create a stunning lei po’o.
Our expert instructor will guide you through each step: from selecting the perfect blooms to designing and assembling your lei po’o. You’ll gain essential skills, including the technique to braid a raffia base and securely tie off your creation.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with a beautifully handcrafted lei po’o, a reflection of your creativity and new skills. Perfect for both beginners and seasoned crafters, this class promises a rewarding and enjoyable experience.
Students need to bring a pair of cutting clippers or scissors.

Beginners Welcome: With expert guidance from our host Caitlyn Madrid of Lei Maui, students will learn a variety of skills: how to choose the best flowers for lei-making, how to prepare those fresh-cut flowers, and how to design a beautiful, unique work of wearable floral art. Students will learn and utilize the wili-style method of lei-making in this lei po’o class.
BYOB: Attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite beverages to enjoy during the class. Glassware and ice provided at the venue.
Location: Relax and enjoy the panoramic views of West Maui from our event deck, located at 700 Punakea Loop, Lahaina, HI 96761. Check in at 2:15 PM. Please carpool with your group if possible.
